Bardic Poetry Challenge
I thought I might get the ball rolling in here with a trip down a (not very long) memory lane
A while back, on facebook, Julie posted the following challenge:
"Bardic Poetry Challenge #1. Find a place you like. Notice the little sounds you hear; the little things you see. Put into a simple poem which describes these".
Here is the poem I wrote in response:
It has no celtic knot work
And it has no passage tombs;
No magnificent monuments of silver stone lie here in silent ruins.
Instead there's skinks and bees and buds and currawongs and worms. Life throngs and buzzes all around as my iPod plays great tunes.
It's good to be home.
I had just returned to Sydney from a journey to sacred sites in Ireland and the UK, for context.

Re: Bardic Poetry Challenge
Thanks Lisa, these are good fun and a nice way to improve our skills as well as share some unique poetry :-)
Big wise eyes look at something I can't see
Shuffling legs and arms that grasp indiscriminately
A smile to break your heart
Speaking words I can't understand
Perfect skin on chubby cheeks
My lovely little boy

soft wind
soft wind over the grasslands,
making sunbeams on puddles
dance like stars. one wet dog
up to his knees in red mud.
rain. rain. all night long, rain...
making sunbeams on puddles
dance like stars. one wet dog
up to his knees in red mud.
rain. rain. all night long, rain...
